Our unique Finnish-American Homestead Tours offer a unique look at the handcrafted pioneer log farms that were common in Northern MN at the turn of the century. Our guide will get into your vehicle (or lead you in theirs) to various farmsteads. Plan on a 2-3 hour tour of the log homesteads. You will also visit a small locally made craft outlet and other area sites as time allows. It is common to see many deer and once in awhile a bear or moose along the way. The perfect backwoods escape!
Tour restored Finnish homesteads, log buildings, and the Nelimark Homestead Museum (a Finnish craft shop and museum). Open Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.

Built in the late 1890's by Mikko and Anna Pyhala. The homestead sits just as it did when the family lived here. Several buildings have been restored and others are awaiting restoration. A unique multi--purpose machine (a Joker) is on display as well. This property overlooks the Embarrass River and is next door Heritage Park & Campground.
In the midst of restoration, this unique building contains a house, stable, hay barn and cattle barn in one building.
